The DGA's Low Budget Agreement (LBA) provides directors with the flexibility to make low-budget films, while retaining the creative rights protections and residuals payments guaranteed under the Guild's Basic Agreement.

The DGA's recently revised LBA covers films made for up to $7million. The agreement is structured in four tiers: films produced for less than $1.2; films with budgets greater than $1.2 million and less than $2.5 million; films made for more than $2.5 million but less than $3.5 million; and films produced for more than $3.5 million but less than $7 million.

In addition, directors get access to some of the best people in the business to help them achieve their vision. Guild ADs and UPMs bring much needed experience to beginning filmmakers, helping them stay on schedule and on budget.
