Independent Directors Committee (IDC) Chair and DGA Fifth Vice President Michael Apted served as moderator at the IDC seminar on October 12. "The purpose of these seminars," said IDC member Bobby Roth," is to educate and disseminate information to members."
DGA Western Executive Director G. Bryan Unger spoke to the group about the Low Budget Agreement (LBA). "Our new LBA is even more flexible than our previous ones, particularly at the lowest tiers," Unger said. "We think the LBA is a good deal for producers and for our members, as well as a great way to bring new directors into the family."
With DGA First Vice President Steven Soderbergh spearheading the effort, an Eastern Division of the IDC was recently created. For Apted, if there is one goal for the bicoastal IDC efforts, it is to "allow independent filmmakers to have a voice."
