On June 4 the Directors Guild of America's Women's Steering Committee (WSC) hosted its 10th Annual Networking Mixer. The event was attended by approximately 180 industry professionals and participants. The Committee is co-chaired by Gina Brittle Mackey, Liz Ryan and Kari Skogland.

The event began with a self-assessment panel "Strategizing Your Career."

"Self-assessment is a difficult thing, but we believe if you come from a base of strength and knowledge, you can more easily move to where you need to go," said associate director Mimi Deaton, who moderated the "Strategizing Your Career" panel. The panelists, Charlie Siegel, Roxie Wenk Evans and Barbara Friedman, MFT, echoed those thoughts and offered practical tips for attendees.

The main discussion, "Digital Update," featured five industry professionals: Jason Saville, Vice President of Production at Touchstone Television; John Amodeo, co-executive producer on the high-definition Fox TV series, Titus; Frederick K. Keller, director/producer of TV films, Pretender 2001 and The Island of the Haunted; Jim Hart, co-executive producer of the high-definition pilot Pasadena; and Richard Brown, director of photography on the high-definition Comedy Central show, That's My Bush. DGA members Jennifer Reed and Tena Yatroussis co-moderated this panel.

The evening concluded with three sets of four-on-one conversations in which attendees were allotted a 20- minute window period to network with industry professionals of their choice.
