DGA Scrapbook

On the set of The Domino Principle. Far left, actors Gene Hackman and Mickey Rooney. Fifth from left, AD/UPM Michael S. Glick. Second from right, director Stanley Kramer. The photo was taken at a prison location in San Quentin. Glick said that later during the shoot, on location in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Kramer turned to him and said, "You know, I'd like a steak. Do you think everyone else would?" Paying for it out of his own pocket, Kramer arranged for close to 300 steaks to be shipped down from Phil's Poultry in West Los Angeles. On that Saturday night, he hosted a barbecue complete with wine, mariachi bands, and more for the entire cast, crew and the families of the Mexican crew as well. In addition, Kramer insisted on being the last person to be served to ensure that everyone else had a steak first.
