LOS ANGELES, CA: The Directors Guild of America today announced the Guild's nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary for 2009. "Documentary filmmaking reflects and magnifies the reality of our lives – allowing audiences to see people and events in new, exciting and often unexpected ways," said DGA President Taylor Hackford. "The fine work of these talented nominees demonstrates why audiences are increasingly seeking out documentaries and why distributors are releasing more documentary films theatrically. I congratulate each of them for their extraordinary work." The winner will be announced at the 62nd Annual DGA Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
	SACHA GERVASI Anvil! The Story of Anvil (Metal On Metal Productions) This is Mr. Gervasi's first DGA Award nomination.
	MAI ISKANDER Garbage Dreams (Iskander Films, Inc.) This is Ms. Iskander's first DGA Award nomination.
	ROBERT KENNER Food, Inc. (Robert Kenner Films) This is Mr. Kenner's first DGA Award nomination.
	LOUIE PSIHOYOS The Cove (Oceanic Preservation Society and Roadside Attractions) This is Mr. Psihoyos' first DGA Award nomination.
	GEOFFREY SMITH The English Surgeon (Eyeline Films) This is Mr. Smith's first DGA Award nomination.
