Saturday, March 2, 2002

at DGA headquarters in Los Angeles.

The nominees for the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television for 2001 are (in alphabetical order):

ROBERT ALLAN ACKERMAN
Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows - ABC

This is Ackerman's first DGA nomination.

JON AVNET
Uprising - NBC

  • Unit Production Manager: Hester Hargett

This is Avnet's first DGA nomination.

BILLY CRYSTAL
61* - HBO

  • Unit Production Manager: Robert F. Colesberry
  • First Assistant Director: Alan Edmisten
  • Second Assistant Director: Lisa J. Bloch
  • Second Second Assistant Director: Bradley Morris

This is Crystal's first DGA nomination.

FRANK PIERSON
Conspiracy - HBO

This is Pierson's third DGA nomination. He was previously nominated for his direction of the movies for television, Citizen Cohn (1992) and Truman (1995).

MARK RYDELL
James Dean - TNT

  • Unit Production Manager: James T. Davis
  • First Assistant Director: Jerry Grandey
  • Second Assistant Director: Darrell Woodard

This is Rydell's second DGA Award nomination, and his first in this category. In 1981 he was nominated for his direction of the feature film, On Golden Pond.
