On Tuesday, November 6, the DGA Eastern Directors Council (EDC) presented the seminar Getting to Yes - A View of the Hiring Process with A Focus on Women Directors.
The event featured Executive Producer Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life on the Street); Sue Johnson, Vice President Talent Development and East Coast Programming for ABC Daytime; and Director/Executive Producer Ted Kotcheff (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) in a discussion about the hiring process and what elements come into play in selecting a director, with a special focus on women directors. The panelists discussed how directors get hired and what jobseekers can do to maximize their potential in the arenas of episodic television and daytime serials. The discussion was organized by EDC member Linda Laundra (Another World) and moderated by Director Mary Harron (The Notorious Bettie Page).
