The seminar, held on Monday, November 5, at Santa Monica’s Le Merigot Hotel, was moderated by DGA Independent Directors Committee Member Bobby Roth (Berkeley), and featured Angela Wilson Gyetvan, VP of Marketing and Content for Revver, the first service that allows independent video producers to share and monetize their work across multiple platforms; San Francisco-based director, Rob Nilsson (Northern Lights); Kelly Sanders, Executive Director for Truly Indie, an initiative that gives filmmakers access to marketing and sales tools without a traditional distributor; and David Straus, CEO of Withoutabox, an online media company dedicated to advancing independent film. The panelists discussed how their companies could help indie filmmakers distribute their films and how indie directors can still make their movies and avoid huge financial losses. Also discussed were finding a core audience, the future of delivery systems.
