On Saturday, October 6, the Guild hosted an all-day event entitled, Making Diversity Work: A Day of Education and Inspiration, in the Boardroom of DGA Headquarters in Los Angeles. Hosted by DGA President Michael Apted, and DGA First Vice President Paris Barclay, the symposium was designed to provide DGA women and ethnic minority Director members with valuable and inspirational information about negotiating the professional maze via panel discussions, workshops and networking.

The day also included the presentation Selling Yourself, a look at resumes, networking, and techniques for obtaining good agency representation with Director Millicent Shelton (Girlfriends), Paul Weitzman of Preferred Artists Literary Agency, and Life Coach/Director Art Dielhenn (Rachel Gunn, R.N.).

Making Diversity Work took a look at various programs, fellowships, contests, film festival opportunities with DGA First Vice President Paris Barclay (Lost), Director Seith Mann (Grey’s Anatomy), and Tim McNeal, Vice President of Talent Development and Diversity at the Disney-ABC Television Group.
