Since its founding in 1982, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, aka “OutFest,” has presented more than 4,000 films and videos for audiences of over half a million people.

Outfest 2006 returned to the DGA and nine other Los Angeles venues from July 6-17, 2006 and featured 207 films and videos from 25 countries.

As a premiere sponsor of the festival, the DGA not only served as a venue for screenings and events, but also hosted a special luncheon for Outfest filmmakers at Eat on Sunset. During the luncheon DGA First Vice President Paris Barclay, Independent Directors Committee member Jamie Babbit (The Quiet, Nip/Tuck) and DGA Director-member Maria Maggenti (Puccini for Beginners) spoke to the filmmakers about the protections and advantages membership provides.
