Reaching out to independent filmmakers, the Guild participated in this year’s Sundance Institute Directors Lab.

The Lab provides emerging filmmakers with an opportunity to develop distinctive new works in an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration and risk-taking, under the guidance of accomplished creative advisors such as Directors Brad Silberling (Land of the Lost) and Randa Haines (The Ron Clark Story) who attended this year. On June 2, Silberling spoke to the Lab Fellows about the benefits of DGA membership.

Founded by DGA member Robert Redford in 1981, Sundance Institute is a not-for-profit organization that fosters the development of original storytelling in film and theatre, and presents the annual Sundance Film Festival.
