All proceeds from the DGA Foundation Golf and Tennis Tournaments go directly towards helping the Directors Guild Foundation (DGF) maintain its tradition of service. For sixty-five years, the Foundation has provided confidential loans to Guild members facing short-term financial hardship. In addition to assisting members, since November 2000 the DGF has been the sole underwriter for the DGA-Motion Picture Industry Conservation Collection at UCLA. This important collection, housed at the UCLA Film and Television Archive, is composed of new prints of feature films directed by our members under DGA agreements, ensuring that our work is preserved for future generations. As a result of the DGF’s support, 1,443 films have been archived through this program.

“Acts of generosity allow the DGF to continue providing assistance to Guild members in need,” said DGF Chair John Rich. “These temporary financial setbacks can happen to any of us. Work dries up for a time, a show is cancelled, a contract ends and we’re faced with a situation of being in between paychecks. But that doesn’t stop the rent payment, food bills or medical insurance. Thankfully, the DGF is there to step in and lend a hand when it’s needed the most, and does so in a way that respects personal anonymity.”

“During the period 2002-2010, the DGF responded to very heavy demands from fellow members, and issued loans totaling nearly $1,600,000,” added DGF First Vice Chair Gene Reynolds. “We’re separate from the Guild itself, so the Foundation is dependent upon the contributions of our membership and help is urgently needed to continue these important programs.”
