Following their monthly meeting on June 5, the African American Steering Committee (AASC) presented the panel discussion Survival Skills for Emerging Directors in the boardroom of DGA headquarters in Los Angeles.

The panel was comprised of UPMs Leslie Jackson (The New Adventures of Old Christine), Preston Holmes (Hustle & Flow) and Dwight Williams (Down for Life); and 1st ADs Kevin Williams (House M.D.) and AASC Co-chair Van Hayden (Nights in Rodanthe).

They discussed the skills and tactics Directors can employ to be more effective in pre-production, better communicate and motivate the cast and crew, be more efficient during the shoot and more confident in getting their vision on to the screen. Director/AASC Co-chair Oz Scott (CSI: NY) served as moderator of the discussion.
