On May 12, following their monthly committee meeting, the DGA Women’s Steering Committee (WSC) hosted a panel discussion exploring the production, programming and distribution of short films, with the idea of using shorts as a calling card to feature film directing.

The seminar was held in the Boardroom of the Guild’s Los Angeles headquarters where the panel featured The Ultimate Filmmakers Guide To Short Films’ author Kim Adelman; Shorts International’s head of North & South American Acquisitions, Development and Podcasts, Linda Olszewski; Hollywood Shorts producer Kimberley Browning; and American Cinematheque’s short film programmer Andrew Crane. Moderated by WSC co-chair, Donna Parish (General Hospital: Nightshift), the panelists discussed the current trends in the short film arena and detailed strategies for success in achieving the crossover to feature film directing.
