On May 1, the DGA played host to opening night gala of the The 24th Annual Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF).

Formerly known as the VC Film Fest, the LAAPFF was presented by Visual Communications, and kicked off a week long celebration of Asian Pacific film that saw some 160 film screened at various venues such as the DGA, Laemmle’s Sunset 5 Theatres, ImaginAsian Center, The National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, and the Aratani/Japan America Theatre.

As part of its continuing outreach to independent filmmakers, on Friday, May 2, 2008, the DGA hosted a brunch for directors participating in LAAPFF. The brunch was highlighted by DGA Asian American Committee (AAC) Co-Chairs Sandy Tung and Ken Wada, who spoke to the audience about the advantages of Guild membership
