The event was designed to help members learn what they need to know from experts with practical knowledge about getting the best quality from sophisticated digital camera and sound systems.

Emmy Award-winning cinematographer, Robert Primes, ASC (My Antonia) demonstrated how to light and shoot in three different situations under very different lighting conditions using Panavision’s state-of-the-art Genesis™ camera and a specially designed shot involving choreography with a telescoping Technocrane. Assisting Primes in the demo were camera operator Mitch Dubin (Munich), Key Grip Michael Pizzuto (My Name is Earl), Behind-the-Scenes Camera Operator Matt Siegel (Joan of Arcadia), Gaffer Jeff Strong (Seven), and Camera Assistant Christopher Taylor (CSI: Miami).

The second part of the workshop featured Western AD/UPM/TC Council Chair Cleve Landsberg, Academy Award-winning Sound Mixer Mark Ulano (Titanic), Emmy Award-winning Supervising Sound Editor Christopher Welch (The Day After), and Re-Recording Mixer Andy Koyama (Meet The Fockers) who gave the attendees an inside look at essential sound concepts, techniques and tricks necessary to create great movie sound from capture to final mix.
