Every two years the DGA holds its National Convention where the Board of Directors and Guild Officers are elected to serve two-year terms by delegates from each category and region. The next National Convention will be held at the Guild's National Office in Los Angeles, on
Saturday, June 11, 2005. Only duly elected delegates will be allowed entry to the National Convention.
The number of delegates for each category and region is determined by the election of one representative for each one hundred members within the particular category as of the April 1st preceding the elections. Any member in good standing as of April 1, 2005, and who meets the criteria of the "working in the trade" amendment as defined in Article V, Section B, Paragraph 1, (b) of the Guild's Constitution and Bylaws*, is eligible for nomination as a National Convention delegate.

* WORKING IN THE TRADE REQUIREMENT
To be eligible to be nominated as a Guild officer, a member of the Guild National Board of Directors or of any Guild Council or a delegate to the National Convention, or to hold any such position, a member must be in good standing and have been "working in the trade" as defined herein. For purposes of this provision a member shall be considered to be "working in the trade" (i) during the initial 7 year period following the time the individual becomes a member of the Guild; and (ii) at any time after this initial 7 year only if the individual has worked at least a total of 30 days under a Guild collective bargaining agreement during the most recent 7 year period. The National Board shall develop and implement a method, based on the Guild's minimum scales, for converting reported Guild earnings to "days of employment." Any member who would not be considered to be working in the trade under that conversion formula may appeal to the Eligibility Appeals Committee which may review any relevant information to determine whether the member has in fact worked at the trade at least 30 days within the 7 year period and thus meets the requirement stated in this provision. The decision of the Eligibility Appeals Committee shall be final. Nothing herein shall affect any other right of membership of any member who is not working in the trade, including such member's right to vote, to participate in any meetings of the Guild, or to be a member of any Guild Committee, including any Negotiating Committee.ement.

In the first week of April, the DGA will be mailing out Convention Delegate nomination ballots. If you meet the aforementioned criteria and wish to serve as a delegate, please complete the self-nomination section on the ballot. If you wish to nominate other members to serve as delegates at the National Convention, please list those names in the write-in nomination section. Please note that all write-in candidates must indicate their willingness to serve by providing a signed copy of the "Willingness To Serve" statement which will also be enclosed in the mailing. The "Willingness To Serve" statement may be photocopied, and, or faxed to the member(s) you wish to nominate. In the event that you make a write-in nomination without enclosing a willingness to serve statement, the Guild will attempt to contact the nominee and ascertain their willingness to serve. If the DGA does not hear back from the candidate within one week, it will assume they are not willing to serve and their name will not appear on the ballot.
