Sponsored by the DGA Asian American Committee (AAC), the February 5 event "Moving on Up: From 1st Assistant Director to Director" featured guest speaker director Karen Gaviola. In a seminar discussion moderated by AAC Co-Chair Sandy Tung, Gaviola described the many obstacles she overcame while rising from an assistant director in episodic television to a director of such series as NYPD Blue, Providence, CSI: New York, and CSI: Miami. The event was held at the DGA building in Los Angeles. |
