Article III of the Constitution and Bylaws has been amended to add a new Sec. J, to read as follows:
Section J: Retirees
A member may seek status as a retiree if he or she is 65 or more years old, has been an active member for 25 years or more, and has ceased working in any Guild category under a Guild agreement.
A retiree is eligible to enjoy all of the rights, privileges, and obligations of membership subject to the following conditions:
- A retiree shall pay one-half of basic dues, payable quarterly, provided that in the event the retiree is employed in any Guild category he or she shall pay the full amount of basic dues and additional dues on earnings as set forth in Art. XI of this Constitution and Bylaws, during the year in which such services were performed.
- A retiree who is paying reduced dues under this provision shall not be eligible to be nominated for or to hold any position in the Guild as an officer, member of the National Board or any category council, or as a delegate to the National Convention, with the exception of constitutionally established honorary or ex-officio positions.
Article V, Sec. B. 1. (a) has been amended to add a new paragraph, to be inserted as the second paragraph, and to read as follows:
Any member who has been elected to a position as a Guild officer, Board Member, or member of any category council has a duty of loyalty to the Guild and its members. If the member simultaneously holds a position as an executive, employee, officer, governing board member, or any other elected position with any other Guild or labor organization which represents employees in the entertainment industry, a conflict of interest arises which makes this member ineligible to be nominated for or to hold a Guild elected position.
