Escaping an abusive boyfriend by taking the first flight out of Buffalo, Ellie lands in Los Angeles without a plan, without any friends, and - after encountering some of LA's less savory citizens - without any money. Luckily, Ellie finds salvation of a sort in Betsy, a misanthropic dogwalker who obviously prefers the company of her canine charges to that of people. Each harboring her own secrets, an unlikely bond develops in this poignant account of two courageous if imperfect women trying to find their way back into the world.
