Daniel Moulin never knew his father. All he knows about the American jazzman who came to France, gave his mother a child and walked away, is a 25-year-old contact address in the South Bronx. So, when Paul DeCruccio calls from New York begging Daniel to rush to the Big Apple to fix a batch of French horns, the temptation to lay childhood ghosts to rest becomes irresistible. After witnessing a shootout between crack dealers, Daniel finds an unlikely ally, 10-year-old street-smart William. Across town, Daniel makes friends with Paul's daughter Tilly, whose marriage to her high school sweetheart, Joey, is turning violently sour. In these strife-torn times, tragedy always is only seconds away. As Daniel closes in on slumlord Stoller, the man he suspects knows his father's identity, he must deal with triumph and sadness in equal measure.
