DGA RULES REGARDING "WORKSHOPS"

Some television production companies, in order to save money, are producing "workshops" in lieu of pilots or presentations. A workshop is a staged production that is not recorded. Some of these companies may tell you that these workshops are not DGA-covered worked. Please be advised that the DGA asserts jurisdiction over such "workshops." A DGA director member client must direct a "workshop" under a Guild agreement. We urge you to call our Contracts Administrators, Barbara Berman (310) 289-2008, or Louis Zogaib (310) 289-2047 if you have any questions about this.
