AGENCY UPDATES

Dear Colleagues,

On February 6 , 2002, nearly five months before the expiration of our current agreements, the Directors Guild of America membership ratified the new 2002 Contract which successfully addresses key issues regarding salaries, working conditions, creative rights and the impact of new technology on the work our members perform.

By concluding our negotiations well before the June 30 deadline, the DGA and the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers effectively avoided the economic repercussions that a "negotiation countdown" could have had on our industry, our membership and our community. Moreover, because of extensive and early preparation and planning, the DGA was able to reach an agreement that protects Guild jobs and significantly improves our members' earnings.

There are, of course, many highlights to the new Contract, but one of the most important elements is the historic Interim Settlement Agreement that adapts our existing agreements to the new

technologies that are modernizing the method of television production. This new Agreement, summarized in this seventh issue of the DGA Agency Update, impacts many of your DGA clients, specifically those working in new multi-camera and single-camera prime-time dramatic productions.

In addition to the Interim Settlement Agreement summary, we have included a summary of our new Economic and Creative Rights provisions. Please read them carefully and if you or your DGA clients have any questions, please call the DGA offices and the operator will direct your call.

Sincerely,
Jay D. Roth
NATIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
