Jurisdiction and staffing, currency training, new technology, sustainability, and government and community relations are among the issues being worked on by your fellow members.
I encourage you to become involved. You can learn more about what these committees are doing by attending our monthly Council meetings, and also by checking out the committee descriptions here on the website. Even if you do not live in the New York area, still consider participating as much of the work can be done by email and conference calls.
Here, among other items, you will find a list of your elected representatives. These are your fellow AD/UPM members who represent the interests of your categories in the Directors Guild. Please feel free to contact any of these individuals with questions you may have regarding the Guild, your Council, or the various functioning Committees of the Council. You may also address work-related problems you may be having, or situations you feel need to be discussed. If they cannot answer your questions, they will direct you to someone who can.
Your monthly Council meetings are open to all AD/UPM members. They are not only informative (and occasionally entertaining), but are also a great way to meet your DGA peers and Staff. The Eastern AD/UPM Council meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:15 p.m. (new time) at the DGA Headquarters, 110 West 57th Street, 7th Floor, New York. A buffet dinner is served starting at 6:45 p.m. for those who would like to come early to mix, mingle and network with other members of your categories.
Preserving the strength and the integrity of our Guild is both our privilege and our responsibility. We need your involvement and feedback to better serve our members, so we hope to see you or hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Whelan,
Eastern AD/UPM Council Chair
