Los Angeles – The Directors Guild of America today announced that Cynthia Tollett and Kristina Fredericks, both attorneys in the Guild’s Legal Department, have been promoted to Associate General Counsel.

Tollett has primary responsibility within the Legal Department for obtaining financial assurances for DGA-covered projects, working closely with the DGA’s Signatories Department, while Fredericks has primary responsibility for handling arbitration claims brought under the Guild’s various collective bargaining agreements and provides legal advice to the Credits and Contracts Departments. Both will continue to report to General Counsel David Dreyfus.

“Cynthia and Kristina have been tremendous assets to the Guild’s Legal Department, and this promotion reflects the valuable contributions each has made during her years here,” said Dreyfus. “The Guild and its members are fortunate to benefit from their dedication, legal expertise, and sound judgment as part of our robust legal team.”

Prior to joining the DGA in 2009, Tollett was an associate at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton for almost two years, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions, drafting operating and employment agreements, and corporate governance issues. She received a B.A. with honors from the University of Texas in English and Philosophy, an M.A. from Rice University in English, and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where she served as the senior articles editor for the Entertainment Law Review.

Fredericks joined the DGA in 2011. She was previously an associate at O’Melveny & Myers for four years where she litigated cases involving antitrust, patent and securities matters, and at Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor for nearly three years, where she focused on labor disputes, copyright infringement, and arbitration claims related to collective bargaining agreements. Fredericks also served as Managing Director of Bula Ball, a successful web-based business. She received her B.A. in English Literature from Colorado State University and her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law, where she was a National Tax Moot Court Competition semi-finalist.
