January 13, 2016 will mark 80 years since the inception of the Screen Directors Guild. To honor our founding by the era’s leading motion picture directors, we want DGA Members' opinions on which feature films from the past 80 years you feel reflect the greatest directorial achievements in feature film.
Many organizations, critics and press have compiled their versions of ‘best film’ lists – but none of them are made up of the women and men who know from personal experience the blood, sweat and tears that directors and their teams face on set every day.
Now how do you actually determine the factors that make a film the best directed? We are leaving that to you, the DGA membership, to decide! And be creative in your selections – as there are tens of thousands of films to select from. To make this poll truly representative – we need as many members as possible to participate.
