After 28 years of service to the Guild, DGA Midwest Executive Director Daniel Moore will retire from his position as of April 30, 2014.

“For nearly three decades, Dan has been the face of the DGA to our Midwestern members, serving as the Midwestern Executive Director since joining the Guild’s staff in 1986,” said DGA National Executive Director Jay D. Roth. “In addition to solving problems on behalf of members and productions in Chicago and the surrounding region, Dan has been an integral part of the Guild’s Commercial and Network Negotiations teams, helping to develop critically important contracts on behalf of all members working in those genres. We appreciate Dan's dedicated service and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

As Midwest Executive Director, one of Moore’s primary responsibilities was to work closely with the Chicago Coordinating Committee, a liaison that seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas, maintain contacts with other guilds and unions, and further professional opportunities for all Midwestern members of the DGA. He was also involved in every television network negotiation since 1987. Moore also played a role in the creation of the Illinois Production Alliance, a coalition of labor unions, small businesses and individuals who came together to lobby the state for film production tax credits and helped the region retain more productions.

“While the world around us has changed constantly, the Guild has stood its ground in the face of immense challenges because of its strong leadership, committed membership and dedicated staff,” said Moore. “I have been fortunate to have worked with so many talented Guild members from Chicago, the Midwest and throughout the country. It has truly been a rewarding career and a privilege to work for the DGA these past 28 years.”

Prior to joining the DGA, Moore worked at the National Labor Relations Board’s Chicago office where he also served as National Vice President of the NLRB union. He received his Masters’ Degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Wisconsin in 1981.
