On Saturday, June 14 the Bay area members of the California Film and Television Production Alliance held a rally in support of AB 1839, the California Film and Television Job Retention and Promotion Act, which is working its way through the California Legislature.

The rally brought over 600 members of the Bay area community together at the Fairmont Hotel. DGA San Francisco Coordinating Committee (SFCC) Chair John Morse  and  SFCC Treasurer Zach Keyworth were speakers.

Hosted by FilmItNorCal — part of the statewide California Film and Television Production Alliance — the rally was an impressive show of solidarity with speakers that included: California State Assemblymember and AB 1839 author Raul Bocanegra and Assemblymembers/ AB 1839 co-authors Marc Levine and Rob Bonta; San Francisco Supervisors David Chiu and Mark Farrell; San Francisco Film Commission Executive Director Susannah Greason Robbins; Teamsters, International Vice President At Large Rome Aloise; IATSE Local 16 Vice President Eddie Raymond; Actor Danny Glover; and more. Hundreds of new petition signatures came in over the pre-event promotion, and during the event over 800 letters were signed to State Senator Lois Wolk, Chair of the Senate Governance and Finance Committee, and Governor Jerry Brown.

Another rally hosted by FilmItNorCal is planned for August 20th at the State Capitol in Sacramento.
