Rodrigo García discusses Last Days in the Desert

May 15, 2016 A Latino Committee Sponsored DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

An imagined chapter from the life of Jesus of Nazareth is revealed in Director Rodrigo García’s new biblical-themed drama Last Days in the Desert.

Last Days in the Desert chronicles an untold tale from the story of Jesus (played by Ewan McGregor). As he fights to survive the harshness and deprivations of his self-imposed exile during his forty days of fasting and praying in the Judean wilderness, he also finds himself in a struggle with the Devil (also played by McGregor) over the fate of a neighboring family in crisis.

As the May 15 post membership screening Q&A in Los Angeles was sponsored by the DGA Latino Committee, Committee Co-Chair Alejandro Treviño welcomed the audience before the start of the film. Following the viewing, García sat down with Director Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange), to discuss the making of Last Days in the Desert.

In addition to Last Days in the Desert, García’s credits include the feature films Albert Nobbs, Mother and Child, Ten Tiny Love Stories, Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her; the pilot for the series Six Degrees; and episodes of the series Blue, Christine, In Treatment, Six Feet Under, Carnivàle and The Sopranos. He earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his pilot episode of the series Big Love. García has been a DGA member since 2000.
