Director Ben Younger discusses Bleed for This

November 5, 2016 DGA Q&As in Los Angeles and New York

A boxer is determined to fight again after a near-fatal car accident in Director Ben Younger’s new biographical drama, Bleed for This.

Younger’s film tells the incredible and inspirational true story of Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza, a junior middleweight world champion boxer who was forced to relinquish the title after breaking his neck in a serious car accident and being told by his doctors that he might never walk again much less enter the ring. Determined to regain his crown, he and his trainer defied medical orders to make a return to the sport he loved.

Following the November 5 DGA membership screening in Los Angeles, Younger sat down with Director Ariel Vromen (Criminal), to discuss the making of Bleed for This. Younger also spoke about the film in a conversation with Director Tod ‘Kip’ Williams (Cell) following the DGA membership screening in New York on November 20.

In addition to Bleed for This, Younger’s credits include the feature films Boiler Room and Prime; the shorts Toothpaste and The Car Thief and the Hit Man; and an episode of the television series Army Wives. He has been a DGA member since 1998.
