On August 6, DGA President Paris Barclay congratulated three DGA members their Emmy-winning public service announcements for three “Santa Monica Cares” organizations. The winning spots were Bread and Roses Café, directed by Dianne Bartlow; StepUp directed by Jerri Sher; and Ocean Park Community Center directed by Melanie Wagor.
The awards were for the “Public, Municipal and Operator Produced Cable” category, and presented at the 67th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, held at the Skirball Cultural Center’s Guerin Pavillion on July 25.
The series was a co-production of the DGA Women’s Steering Committee (WSC) and the City of Santa Monica cable television channel, CityTV. Director/WSC Co-Chair Mary Lou Belli and CityTV Station Manager Robin Gee served as Executive Producers.
The WSC was created to advance the professional interests of its members, and to heighten their visibility and career opportunities in the entertainment industry. All women members of the Guild are invited to attend WSC meetings and events and to share in the benefits that come from cooperative activity, click here to visit their webpage.
