2015 DGA Emmy Reception

2015 Emmy Directing Nominees Reception

September 17, 2015 A DGA Special Event

“There’s never been a more exciting time in TV,” said DGA President Paris Barclay in his welcoming remarks to the attendees of the Guild’s annual reception for the Primetime Emmy® Awards directing category nominees at DGA Headquarters in Los Angeles on September 17.

“Think about it, just a short while ago the very definition of TV was different than it is today,” Barclay continued. “It was a box in the living room with a finite number of channels featuring a small sliver of our culture. Now, with made-for-Internet shows and new distribution platforms popping up left and right, diversity in storytelling, booming production and globalization – it’s near dizzying. The proliferation of quality content is astounding. Another ‘Golden Age’ doesn’t do it justice – it’s truly the ‘Platinum Age’ we’re living in. That’s what makes this recognition that you’ve earned more meaningful than ever. The Directors Guild is proud to be a part of this annual celebration, and to have this opportunity to salute such an impressive and talented group of women and men doing the best work on television.”

Barclay then turned the floor over to Television Academy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Rosenblum, who congratulated the nominees and introduced Television Academy Directors Peer Group Governors Gail Mancuso and Fred Savage. Mancuso and Savage then joined Barclay in presenting the official 67th Annual Emmy® Award Nomination Certificates to the attending director nominees.
