Morten Tyldum: The Imitation Game

December 6, 2014 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

A brilliant mathematician races against time to help the Allies crack the Nazi’s Enigma Code in Director Morten Tyldum’s new feature The Imitation Game.

Based on the real life story of legendary cryptanalyst Alan Turing, Tyldum’s film recounts the true story of how Turing and his brilliant team of code-breakers succeeded in decoding the German communications encrypted by the Nazi’s Enigma machine and helped the Allies win World War II, only to later be criminally prosecuted for his homosexuality.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on December 6, Tyldum spoke about the making of the film in a conversation with Director Phillip Noyce (The Giver).

In addition to The Imitation Game, Tyldum’s filmography includes the feature films Headhunters, Fallen Angels, and Buddy; and episodes of the Mini-Series U - Åtte & 1/2 and the television series U. Tyldum joined the DGA in 2013.
