LAFF 2015

2015 Los Angeles Film Festival

June 13, 2015 An Independent Directors Outreach

As part of our continuing outreach efforts aimed at independent filmmakers, for the 21st consecutive year the DGA was a sponsor of Film Independent’s Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF).

On June 12, the Guild hosted a luncheon for directors with films that were presented at LAFF. Director Daniel Barnz (Cake) explained how easy it is for independent filmmakers to work with the DGA and spoke about the advantages of working with experienced directorial teams.

On June 13, the DGA sponsored one of the festival’s most popular events, the annual LAFF Coffee Talk: Directors panel. This year’s panelists were Directors Anne Fletcher (Hot Pursuit) and Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) who engaged in a conversation about their craft and the state of the industry. The panel was moderated by Director Paul Weitz, whose film Grandma opened the festival.

About the Festival

From June 10-18, the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF) showcased diversity, innovation and uniqueness of vision in new American and international cinema, and provided the movie-loving public with one-of-a-kind events featuring critically acclaimed filmmakers, film industry professionals, and emerging talent from around the world. Widely recognized as a world-class event, this year’s festival screened a diverse slate of 74 feature films, 60 short films, and over 50 new media works representing 35 countries. LAFF also featured gala premieres, panels and seminars, short film programs, music video showcases, free outdoor screenings, live musical performances, and unique signature events.
