Peter Chelsom: Hector and the Search for Happiness

September 21, 2014 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

A disaffected psychiatrist searches the world to find the key to bliss in Director Peter Chelsom’s romantic comedy, Hector and the Search for Happiness.

The film stars Simon Pegg as a therapist who has become disillusioned with trying to tell others how to be happy when he has no idea. In an attempt to break out of his humdrum life, he sets off on a quest that will take him around the globe as he tries to discover the secret to happiness.

Chelsom spoke about the making of the film in a conversation with Director Anne Fletcher (The Guilt Trip) after the DGA screening in Los Angeles on September 21.

In addition to Hector and the Search for Happiness, Chelsom’s work includes the features Hannah Montana: The Movie, Shall We Dance, Town & Country, The Mighty, and Hear My Song; and the short Treacle. He joined the DGA in 1996.
