Anthony Russo and Joe Russo: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

April 12, 2014 A Director Q&A in Los Angeles

What do you do when the organization that’ve you dedicated your life to, turns out to be something other than what you’ve been led to believe?

In Anthony and Joe Russo’s follow-up to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, and the 2012 mega-hit, The Avengers, we find Steve Rogers still struggling to find his place in a world some fifty years out of his time. After discovering startling information about the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D, he finds himself branded a traitor and has to find a way to get to the bottom of the mystery, while also dealing with a mysterious assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

The Russo Brothers discussed their approach to helming the latest installment of this popular franchise in a conversation moderated by DGA President Paris Barclay following the membership screening on April 12. As a team, their directing credits include the feature films You, Me and Dupree, Welcome to Collinwood and Pieces and the movies for television The Council of Dads and Courtroom K. They have been members of the DGA since 2001.
