The DGA's San Francisco Coordinating Committee (SFCC) welcomed DGA members from all categories to their Annual General Membership Meeting and Reception on May 12. Bay area Guild members assembled at San Francisco's Concordia-Argonaut Club, where SFCC Chair Debbie Brubaker welcomed the attendees and special guest, DGA President Taylor Hackford.
Hackford spoke about a number of subjects including: plans for the next negotiations cycle in 2013, the current status of New Media, and recent successes in California Film and Television Production Incentives such as the recent project Hemingway & Gellhorn, that took advantage of the program earlier this year and employed Bay Area DGA members. DGA Assistant Executive Director Lisa Layer followed Hackford with a review of the May National Board meeting and how that will affect local members.
SFCC Chair Brubaker then returned to deliver a report on the Committee’s educational activities and plans for the upcoming Annual Networking Mixer on October 18, and SFCC Treasurer Gino Caputi gave the treasury report. There were also reports from SFCC Production Info and News Sub-Committee Chair Frank Simone, who read the list detailing the productions occurring in the Bay Area, and a report from Screening Sub-Committee Chair Cathy Hammer.
The official business concluded with the election of the SFCC Executive Committee: Tim Boxell, Debbie Brubaker, Brian Fong, David Hakim, Philip Gallegos, Frank Simeone, LaMar Stewart, Frank Zamacona and Carolina Zorilla de San Martin. The new slate of SFCC officers will be elected until at the upcoming meeting on June 20.
