The DGA's Ethnic Diversity Steering Committee (EDSC) continued its Special Guest series on March 18 with entertainment and media business affairs attorney Laverne Berry at the Guild's New York building. Ms. Berry spoke with the EDSC before its regularly scheduled meeting on the subject of copyright and trademark law and offered suggestions on ways members could protect their creative work.
President of the Board of New York Women in Film and Television, Ms. Berry's expertise also comes from her experiences as a television producer and media business executive, as well as her time as a member of the Independent Film and Television Alliance arbitration panel, the CPR Panels of Distinguished Neutrals, and her long time involvement in alternative dispute resolution. She is also the current counsel to the Women's Film Preservation Fund.
