Visual History with Wes Kenney

Interviewed by: Doug Hayden

Veteran television director Wes Kenney (Days of Our Lives, All in the Family) discusses his long career, spanning from the early days of television at the DuMont Network, to directing and executive producing some of the most well-known daytime serials in history.

Director Wes Kenney recalls his entry into the fast and furious days of early television at the DuMont Network in the early 1950's in New York City.

When Days of Our Lives faltered after the switch from 30 minute episodes to 60, Kenney returned to the show to fix their production problems and he changed the way daytime dramas were scheduled and filmed from that point forward.

Kenney describes the style he developed for the small budget show Night Beat on the DuMont Network, which made Mike Wallace famous as an interviewer.
